Nana’s Ovaltine Black-Bottom Banana Bread

My Grandma would make this for my Mom. Now my Mom makes it for me!


Ingredients:

1 1/2 cupflour
1 tspbaking powder
1 tspbaking soda
1/2 tspsalt
1 1/2 cupsmashed ripe bananas
1/2 cupbutter, softened
1 cupsugar
1egg
1 tspvanilla
1/2 cupOvaltine -- chocolate drink mix

Instructions:

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt and set aside
  2. In a medium bowl, blend butter and sugar, then add egg and vanilla
  3. Blend the contents of the medium bowl until thoroughly combined, then add bananas
  4. Add dry ingredients to the medium bowl and mix well
  5. Divide batter in half and add Ovaltine to half the mixture
  6. Spread the Ovaltine batter in the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan or 2 loaf pans
  7. Spread remaining batter on top
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes
