Chicken Adobo

This is my favorite dish that my parents always cook. I wanted to learn from my parents so when I grow up I can cook my favorite dish. -- Jermaine Drae


Ingredients:

2 lbschicken, cut into serving pieces
3 piecesbay leaves
8 tbspsoy sauce
4 tbspwhite vinegar
5 clovesgarlic, crushed
1 1/2 cupswater
1 tsppeppercorn
3 tbspcooking oil
1 tspsugar
1/4 tspsalt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Combine chicken, soy sauce and garlic in a large bowl. Mix well. Marinate for at least one hour -- the longer the better!
  2. Heat oil in a pot
  3. When oil is hot, pan-fry the marinated chicken for about 2 minutes on each side
  4. Pour in the remaining marinade and water. Bring to a boil.
  5. Add bay leaves and whole peppercorn. Simmer for 30 minutes or until chicken gets tender.
  6. Add vinegar and cook for 10 minutes
  7. Add sugar. Turn the heat off and stir. Add salt if necessary.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
