These are my daughter, Larissa’s favorite chocolate chip cookies. They are semi-crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They are being carefully packed in the first care package she is receiving in college.

Ingredients:

1 cupbutter, softened
1 cupwhite sugar
1 cuppacked brown sugar
2eggs
2 tspvanilla extract
1 tspbaking soda
2 tsphot water
1/2 tspsalt
3 cupsall-purpose flour
2 cupssemi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cupchopped walnuts, optional

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Cream together butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla
  4. Dissolve baking soda in hot water and add to batter along with salt
  5. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts
  6. Drop large spoonfuls onto greased pan
  7. Bake for about 10 minutes, or until edges are nicely browned. Do not overbake or they will be crispy all the way through.
